The winter transfer market proves to be a time of significant speculation and possible big-money deals. A number of notable players are being linked with moves out of their current teams. Here is a look at a selection of the major names who could be on the move this month.

Antoine Semenyo

Although Ghana's inability to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations, which has kept the forward available, reports suggest a major move is imminent. This Bournemouth attacker possesses a deal with a substantial release clause active for a brief period in early January. Recent reports point to Manchester City have emerged as his signature. Former suitors like Chelsea and Tottenham reportedly have moved on to alternative options, leaving teams such as Manchester United or Liverpool to make a last-minute move.

M. Guéhi

This English defender has excel for Palace despite a previous move to Liverpool collapsing. As his deal set to run out in the close season, this represents the club's last opportunity to secure a transfer fee for their skipper. A host of top sides, such as City and multiple continental powerhouses like Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich, are believed to be interested. Yet, a January exit remains difficult, especially given the coach's dependence on the defender.

B. Johnson

This Welsh winger has had first-team opportunities hard to come by at Tottenham this campaign. Despite finishing as the club's top scorer the previous campaign, he has started just a small number of Premier League games. It is understood the London club is open to a transfer for the right price, believed to be in the region of forty million pounds. Bournemouth are currently at the front of the queue, with Aston Villa, Brentford, and Crystal Palace also showing an interest.

Rúben Neves

The Portugal midfielder could be set for a return to the English top flight following a spell in the Saudi Pro League. Now just twenty-eight, and with his contract expiring in the summer, he is a potential bargain. Clubs such as Manchester United and Liverpool have been linked with the player. Furthermore, there are suggestions from Spain that he is willing to take a reduced salary for a switch to the Spanish giants.

Marc-André ter Stegen

This experienced German shot-stopper finds himself as the third option at Barcelona following the coach Flick. Having lost his place and had an operation, a January exit seems highly probable. Aston Villa were once linked as a possible destination, but that move currently seems off. Instead, interest from Saudi Arabia and Turkey are thought to be expressing interest in the 33-year-old.

Ivan Toney

The prolific English centre-forward has continued finding the net regularly in the Middle East. A return to the Premier League might enhance his fading hopes of being in the England World Cup. But, securing a transfer poses major challenges. His current club are reluctant to part with him, and his reported huge salary make any agreement difficult. K. Yildiz

The exciting Turkish attacker is in excellent form for the Italian giants this season. With his existing contract nearing its end, many English clubs – such as Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Tottenham – are monitoring the developments. The Turin club are eager to secure the youngster to a lengthy contract but face a battle to retain one of Europe's brightest prospects.

K. Smit

The much-admired Dutch midfielder has earned comparisons to a Belgian superstar for his style of play. Following impressing at the U19 Euros, he has become a regular in the AZ first team. This 19-year-old is heavily tipped to complete a major transfer this month. Newcastle United reportedly are leading the chase, but could face strong rivalry from Real Madrid for a deal priced at around £22 million.
