Wythenshawe Veterans Over-35s are located in southern the city and compete in the Cheshire-based Vets Division Top Tier.

Their roster this season boasts nine former top-flight footballers, with a combined over 1,800 Premier League matches.

This high-profile squad also includes over 220 top division scores and 325 global appearances.

They feature one forward, who netted 37 scores in 117 appearances for his former club after joining them for nine million pounds from Bundesliga side Freiburg in January 2012.

Cisse made his first appearance for Wythenshawe in their most recent home match versus reigning title holders their rivals and scored every one of the six scores in a six-two win - featuring a 32-minute opening period triple.

Wythenshawe's team for this season also includes former pros such as English and Anfield striker Emile Heskey, Hull and Burnley FC winger George Boyd, Toffees striker Oumar Niasse, Wigan Athletic full-back Maynor Figueroa, City duo Stephen Ireland and Nedum Onuoha and top-flight title winners Joleon Lescott and Danny Drinkwater.

Together, the former Premier League footballers have claimed fifteen big trophies and transferred for combined transfer fees of around £123 million.

Famous Names and Global Players

Stephen Ireland started playing for the team in pre-season this summer through good mate and current team player Blake Norton, and the former Republic of Ireland midfielder then invited other former professionals, who all play in a midweek small-sided game, to participate.

Ex- Senegalese striker Oumar Niasse, who scored twelve scores in 65 Premier League games for Everton and even now attends their matches at Goodison Park, also made his debut against Collegiate OB - who are based in Liverpool and use an Blue warm-up gear as their strip.

"My friend Stephen Ireland told me 'join and play, it's good fun'," said Niasse.

"Then he informed me we were facing a team from Liverpool and the shock I had when I noticed them wearing Everton kits - I say this is strange for me!

"If you still love the game and you feel you can still play, anywhere you can kick a ball, what are you going to do?

"Those fans who turn up and watch are happy and to give someone's moment if they see us playing there and to pose us questions - it's really about the joy of us having somewhere we can enjoy football, with structure of course."

So great is the bench strength at Wythenshawe, Niasse made his first game at full-back.

"That's a little different but then, I enjoy sprinting and just go forward - I'm not staying back that much," he added.

"I warn my centre-back 'I'm not staying' and that I'm just going to keep attacking.

"That movement is what I'm after. It's good fun."

Dreamlike' Scenario

In addition to Cisse's six goals on his first game, Ireland has scored eight in three games for Wythenshawe, while George Boyd hit five on his first appearance and Lescott, a centre-half by trade, scored a hat-trick in one match as a striker.

The team are top of the Top Division with three victories from 3 and a GD of plus nineteen.

Paul Barrow, 38, who plays on the wing for the opposition, came up against former Latics defender Maynor Figueroa on the weekend - and had to tell his nine-year-old boy who Heskey was.

He has played at two global tournaments for Honduras, in addition to featuring in over two hundred Premier League games.

"The news was spreading like wildfire they had these former top-flight players," remarked Barrow.

"I felt I was a bit awestruck facing Figueroa to be honest.

"Even Emile [Heskey] came on and he's got 60-odd England appearances.

"Our side competed well for a good 20 mins but then we had a man dismissed and it was hard.

"Our group really haven't ceased chatting about it - I was calling my mother and brother on the way home.

"They were all dead sound, shaking our hands after the match - it was like facing a group of regular guys.

"Now we can't wait for the second match."
